about

In the mid-1800s songs about the life of enslaved people on plantations were very popular. They were performed mostly in minstrel shows and had subjects like longing for the old plantation, loving the old master, enjoying the rustic life. This sugar coating of the U.S.'s racial history continues today with laws outlawing the teaching of subjects in school that hurt people's feelings. So here's a 19th Century-style song about White fragility.
